Tech School

Tech School:

Phase 5:

Phasse five means total freedom.  You can even take off from friday after school till monday at around 7 am.  Which is pretty cool.  You can not however still rent a hotel, so where do you go, who knows right.  It's also very stress full, cause you have your EMT training almost done.

medium_untitled.11.jpg

Which means registry exam, and skills test.  That's a written test, and an onhands test where you're evaluated to treat a dummy for various injuries.  The cool thing is that you can ask girls to help you with this, and you have to put your hands all over their body, searching for injuries ofcourse.  I was actually searching for something else though.  I had the whole thing down, but I still faked studying.  So I was messing around big deal, it was fun for both of us, don't judge me, bite me.  Anyway, the time for you to leave gets nearer, and you have to start getting read of all your crap.  Or you start shipping it out.  If your me though, your techschool happens to overlap Christmass, and being the type of person that I am, I feel it a waste to go all the way home just for Christmass.  So I get to pull CQ duty during this time.  I get to basically watch everyone that goes into the and out of the dorms, and meat some Navy people.  By the way, they are actually called Seamen, which sounds just like...  Hahaha, that's so funny, and I let my scemen, I mean seamen friends know it, especially this one girl, that I seemed to get along really well with.  She was cool, but I only knew her for two weeks which sucked.  When everyone came back, I met this one girl as I was pulling guard duty at the back entrance of the dorm.

Her ID read almost exactly like mine, it was weird.  Same height, hair color, birth date, age, everything but the name, and place where she got it.  It was pretty cool and we kind of bonded for a while, but somehow, I stopped hearing from her, which sucked, cause she seemed cool also.  I met this other cool girl, and I had one of my friends that knew her.  She was pretty cool aswell, and right now I'm wishing I had a much better memory with names, cause I can't remember any of them.  Anyway, she spoke spanish, but I didn't know, and my friend asked me if I thought she was good looking in spanish and I answeared heck yes, she's definetly good looking, in spanish ofcourse, and the she said, I bet you didn't know I spoke spanish, in spanish too, and I just felt like such a moron.  My friend knew, and he had framed me, that's messed up huh.  Oh well, I hung out with her a couple of times, and met some other girls here and there, but eventually I got shipped off base, and to my permanent duty station, Lackland AFB, the black hole of the medical field in the Air Force.  From there, I would spend the rest of my Air Force career.  Well That's it for tech school hope this was interesting to read, and informative.

Tech School:

Phase 3 and 4:

medium_april_jamie_annie_at_mall.jpg

So you're trying like hell to hook up left and right, and so are girls, its a great time to be a guy, exept that you can't get any alone time with the girl.  Also now you get to go out to the mall and stuff.  So you go to the mall, and check out the civilians.  You go around spending you're money without regard, since you should have atleast 500$ to do with as you wish.  I had around 2000$ though, so I went crazy with watches, shoes, clothes.  Plus if you're like me, and look years younger than you are, even now I look twenty to eighteen and younger when I shave everything, even though I'm like twenty five.  So when I was there, at the mall this four girls came up to me inviting me to a slumber party.  However being that I was in the F*cking Air Force, and that being of age, and them not, I didn't go.

Which completely sucked, cause they were very nice looking.  2 of them were like foruteen though, one fifteen, and one sixteen.  Dam statutory rape law.  Anyway, I went on buying stuff, and knew I made the right choice declining the invite, cause as soon as I got to the bus to go back to base, a guy told me he saw me talking to those girls.  So my ass would have been grass if I had gone.  You get to meet alot of cool people there, and alot of would be girlfriends, if it wasn't for the fact that everyone was gonna go thir separate ways.  So you go to the pool halls, and you meet friends.  You go to the BDU club wich is a club on base, and you go to Grams Central Station, those of you from the Valley reading this, yes its the same Grams way up in wichita Falls, and the only club to go to there, so it sucks.  However, you make friends, and meet girls, and move on with your life.

Phase 2:

medium_china.2.jpg

Ok, I'll end phase one with a simple story.  The first night at techschool, we were sent to our rooms.  The boys and girls rooms are completely separated, and guarded, so no guy can go to a girls room, and no girl can go to a guys room.  This is done basically cause after 6 weeks of not even talking to a girl, you pretty much have one of the biggest sexdrives ever, and the whole dorm would basically become a whore house.  Somehow however my roommate got two girls to go up to our room, and chill.  We just kind of messed around, but nothing really great happened, cause if we got cought, it would have definetly been our ass.   All our asses would have been fucked.  So phase 2 starts, and you can wear your own clothes around the dorm.  You prettymuch just go to the comisary, and waste time in the dayroom, the only place you can chill with girls.

Being on the medical field, and it being the field with the most women, you're lucky, cause you get to chill with the women most of the time.  You can go all the way up to the laundry room, and be there till 11 at night.  The laundry room being a great place at the time, due to the fact that you could find girls in their pajamas doing their laundry.  Which was great.  So you find a girl you like, and take her to have a nonalcoholic drink at the class six.  You get to know her, and if you do good, you take her to PDA(Public Display of Affection) park.  Where you make out with her and fool around a bit.  That's about it, no hotel room or nothing, sucks.  So your on phase 2, watching a movie over and over, cause everyone votes on the movie, and it usually ends up in armagedon.  Great movie the first fifty times, after that it starts to suck.  You also study, and just try and talk to people as much as possible to keep your sanity.

Tech school, the next step.

Techschool:

Phase 1:

medium_untitled.6.jpg

So in phase one a typical day in techschool would be, you get up in the morning.  You take a shower, and then your roomate takes one.  You have one roomate which you share the room and shower with by the way.  After taking a shower, you must wipe the shower dry with a towel.  You must also wipe the sink down after using it, remember you will get random inspections of this.  After you put on your BDUs(Battle Dress Uniform, see pic ontop).  You go down stairs, and form a marching group with your flight.  Once the group is formed, you all march to school together.  Once you get to school you stand at parade rest, outside the door of your classroom till your instructor gets there.  Once your professor gets there, you all enter the room, and class begins.  There is a 30 minute lunch break where you may purchase snacks, most popular are the nachos.  And then you return to your classroom.

Once school finishes, you form a group with your flight again, and you march back to the dorm.  From there, you put your sports apparel on, and you run 3 miles.  Once your done, the day is yours.  However, being on phase one, and not being able to go off base, all you can do is go to the base exchange, or the class six.  You buy useless crap at the BX, and you can play videogames, and rent movies at the class six.  There is also the dayroom, where you can watch movies with other airmen in techschool, good way to meet girls, and if you chose the Air Force, good news, there is some.  Other than that, since your in phase one all you can have in your room is a cd player, so the only place left to go to is the cafeteria.  You go to sleep around nine, and you can only call your family through calling cards.  On the weekends, you prettymutch do the same, maybe go lift weights, or go play basketball at the gym, since you still can't go off base.  You also enjoy this time as much as you can, remember your getting a thousand plus bucks a month just to go to school.

Tech school, the next step.

Tech School:

The facts:

medium_ppp.jpg

So you gratuated basic.  Now what?  Well now you can go on to the next step, Tech School!  So what can you expect in Tech School, well first off, schooling ofcourse.  You are there to learn your new job.  So you will have tests and homework and all that good stuff.  You are in the military however, so if your school doesn't start right away you will have the privilige of doing details.  Details are odd jobs in the military, like cutting the grass, or claning the kitchen and stuff like that.  You also get to live in the dorms, and not wear any civilian clothing for atleast a week.  It really goes on your Tech school how it works out, but you slowly regain your semi freedom with each passing week, and good behaivior.

medium_untitled.jpg

You must keep your room in inspection order, while you are at school, your room will be subject to inspections and things, so it must be maintained clean.  Failure to do so will result in diciplinary action, or you not getting to get your freedom for the week.  So how does this freedom thing work.  Well first step you can only wear military clothing, and not go off base.  You must be in your room by nine, no TV, or streo.  You may have cd player though.  Second stage you may wear civilian clothing in side the dorm.  Third stage you may wear civilian clothing on base, and go off base during the assigned hours, but you must wear your AF blues to go off base.  The final stage lets you go off base, even for the weekend, and wear your civilian clothing off base.  However, you may not stay at a hotel, Yeah right.

What you should know about joining the military.

First of, why should you ever consider the military.  The reason is, it's a good way to serve you're country (yeah right), you get benefits(full dental, full medical, VA loan, GI bill, BX, comisary, and a 24hr class six store), the GI bill will pay for half your school if you use it.  It's also a good way to learn dicipline, and a good way to spend your time while you figure out what you want to do with your life. You can also receive really good pay.  You get the usual military pay, which is not that much, but once you move out of the military dorms, you can get BAH(basic allowance for housing, or money for your house/appartment), and BAS(Basic Allowance for Subsidies, or money for food, and cleaning/higene supplies) which is at least a good 700$ a month tax free.  You can also recieve other tax free pays depending on your job, like hazardous duty pay, or separation pay excetera.  Also if your married, you get benefits for your spouce, and child.  Having dependents will make your bas, and bah go up, as well as overseas pay and other benefits.  Your dependents will also receive free medical and dental, as well as the privilages of being able to shop at the bx (chich is like a tax free walmart with decent brands), and the comisary (which is a cheap grocery store).  So basically you get benefits.  It's also a good career move.  The Military will pay your retirement just after 20 years.

So why shouldn't you?  Well first if you have already figured out what you want to do with your life, It's best to just do that.  When you're in the military, you hardly ever think about going to college and figuring out in a career.  Most careers pay more than the military.  If you don't like to take orders, or do politics.  It's the military, you have a strong structure, with many people ontop of you for a while, so you will get orders.  You must play politics in the military, to get ahead, and aquire a good job, and a good career.  If you like stability, you probably won't like the military.  Your job, place of work, and supervisors, are all chosen at random.  No matter what a recruiter may tell you, it's the military, they can do what they want!   Everything is chosen at random, so you may get the best career ever, or the worst, it's all basically luck.  Knowing people helps in your odds, but that's about it.
