What you should know about joining the military.

First of, why should you ever consider the military.  The reason is, it's a good way to serve you're country (yeah right), you get benefits(full dental, full medical, VA loan, GI bill, BX, comisary, and a 24hr class six store), the GI bill will pay for half your school if you use it.  It's also a good way to learn dicipline, and a good way to spend your time while you figure out what you want to do with your life. You can also receive really good pay.  You get the usual military pay, which is not that much, but once you move out of the military dorms, you can get BAH(basic allowance for housing, or money for your house/appartment), and BAS(Basic Allowance for Subsidies, or money for food, and cleaning/higene supplies) which is at least a good 700$ a month tax free.  You can also recieve other tax free pays depending on your job, like hazardous duty pay, or separation pay excetera.  Also if your married, you get benefits for your spouce, and child.  Having dependents will make your bas, and bah go up, as well as overseas pay and other benefits.  Your dependents will also receive free medical and dental, as well as the privilages of being able to shop at the bx (chich is like a tax free walmart with decent brands), and the comisary (which is a cheap grocery store).  So basically you get benefits.  It's also a good career move.  The Military will pay your retirement just after 20 years.

So why shouldn't you?  Well first if you have already figured out what you want to do with your life, It's best to just do that.  When you're in the military, you hardly ever think about going to college and figuring out in a career.  Most careers pay more than the military.  If you don't like to take orders, or do politics.  It's the military, you have a strong structure, with many people ontop of you for a while, so you will get orders.  You must play politics in the military, to get ahead, and aquire a good job, and a good career.  If you like stability, you probably won't like the military.  Your job, place of work, and supervisors, are all chosen at random.  No matter what a recruiter may tell you, it's the military, they can do what they want!   Everything is chosen at random, so you may get the best career ever, or the worst, it's all basically luck.  Knowing people helps in your odds, but that's about it.

What you should know about coughs.

So what is the purpose of coughing?  Coughing is a reflex that helps clear up the lungs.  It is important to clear up the lungs.  The lungs are the bodies most essential organ.  They supply the body with oxygen, and keep you alive.  In an event of an emergency the lungs have priority over any organ, including the heart.  The body will stop every other organ before the brain heart and lungs, if blood supply is less than adequate.  Coughing stops anything from entering the lungs, and expels any foreign bodies that should not be in there.

Coughing can be caused by foreign bodies like dust, fluid in the lungs, including puss, and excess mucus.  It can also be caused by an irritation, and swelling of the trachea. There can also be a healing area on the breathing tubes.  When there is a foreign body or fluid in the lungs, coughing is essential to get it out.  Without it the lungs would fill with fluid, or dust would irritate the lungs to where function would decrease significantly with time.  Also when fluid in the lungs builds up, there can also be bacteria growth.  Bacteria grow rapidly in such conditions, so it is important to keep the fluid in the lungs minimal.

So what is the best thing to do in such conditions?  Well if the cough is caused by a foreign body, or fluid it is important to let the lungs cough and expel it.  There may be some ways to help it like increasing humidity, or a nebulizer treatment, which thing out the mucus, or attract the foreign bodies, and let them be expelled.  Taking deep breaths before a cough can make the cough more productive by expanding the lungs and letting them expel air at a better rate. It also helps reach down to the bottom of the lungs where fluid may have started to settle down.  Decongestants may help with post nasal drip, entering the lungs.  If bacteria are the problem, like pneumonia, an antibiotic may be given to help defeat the disease.

So while coughs are an obviously essential part for survival, there may always not be the best solution.  If the cough is not productive, the cough may just cause irritation.  This coughs may be suppressed.  Other wise coughing is a great reflex, though sometimes hurtful, and annoying.  We must let it pass, and do its job.  The best way to know how to determine what the cough is for is seeing whether the cough is productive, or you know there is a foreign body.  The doctors is the best person to tell you what is wrong, but realize that there are many different solutions, so do not always expect an antibiotic. I hope thins has been useful, and informative thank you.
